David C. Stoller - Chairman and CEODavid Stoller is currently Chairman and CEO of TransLoad America Inc., a leading company in the waste-by-rail market, founded by Mr. Stoller in 2002.
Mr. Stoller began his career in 1972 as an analyst in the Environmental Epidemiology Office of the State of California Department of Public Health. From 1972-1975, he worked as an environmental impact specialist for Bechtel Corporation in their Environmental Services Department. Thereafter, he directed energy programs for Scientists Institute for Public Information (SIPI), before leaving to join the Long Island Lighting Company, where he worked as Associate Director of Public Affairs while attending Fordham Law School at night.
Mr. Stoller began his professional career as an attorney in 1982. He was a partner and co-head of global project finance for Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy, LLP where he helped build one of the world's largest and most successful project finance practices, participating personally in financings totaling more than $4 billion.
At the end of 1992, Mr. Stoller joined Charterhouse Group International, a large New York City-based private equity firm, as Chairman of its Environmental Capital Group. In 1993, Mr. Stoller, through the Charterhouse Environmental Capital Group, launched American Disposal Services, an integrated waste management company that ultimately acquired and consolidated, with $34mm in equity capital, more than 80 waste management companies, located principally in the Midwest. American Disposal had a successful IPO in July 1996 and was sold in 1998 to Allied Waste at a price exceeding $1.3 billion.
In August of 1998, Mr. Stoller left Charterhouse to launch Americana Financial Services, raising over $40mm in private equity capital. Americana (now the American Wholesale Insurance Group) is currently the largest private wholesale insurance brokerage in the United States..
Mr. Stoller holds a B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania, an MA from the Graduate Faculty of the New School for Social Research and a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law. He is also a graduate of the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program.
Marlene Wheaton - Vice President/Corporate Controller/TreasurerMarlene Wheaton has been in the waste business since she began her employment with Waste Management in 1985. She continued working in various waste companies rising to the position of Controller. Her most recent employment brought her to Florida where she was the Corporate Controller and was responsible for $42 million in revenue with 25% net income. Developing and implementing internal controls, policies and plans, her responsibility also included managing and overseeing the accounting functions of seven locations including two hauling companies and six processing/transfer facilities. Marlene received her BS from the State University College of New York, College at Fredonia.
James Newell - President, TLA-Rail LogisticsJim Newell has over 30 years of operating experience in the rail industry. Mr. Newell began his career as a Trainman with the Seaboard Railroad in 1965. After Seaboard, Mr. Newell joined CSX Railroad where he moved through various field operating positions including Conductor, Yardmaster, Terminal Manager, Operations Manager - Fertilizer Business Unit, Superintendent - Transportation and General Manager - Network Operations. In 1998, Mr. Newell started his own company, First Cartage Services, Inc., and moved the company from bankruptcy to sales in excess of $2 million. Mr. Newell holds a B.S. in Business from Tampa College and an MA in Business from Jacksonville University. He joined TransLoad in 2004 to head-up logistics and network operations.
